SaltConf17 is just a little more than a month away and seats are filling up fast. With new pre-conference training courses and a powerful lineup of speakers already announced, we are excited to provide a sneak peek of some new additions to SaltConf17 this year.
Online scheduler for one-on-one meetings – Have you ever had to wait in line at SaltConf to talk to Tom or one of the SaltStack engineers? This year we hope to eliminate the line by offering a one-on-one meeting scheduler for SaltConf17 attendees to book time with members of the SaltStack executive and engineering teams. One-on-one scheduling will be announced and opened to registered SaltConf17 attendees a couple of weeks before the event. So register now and watch for an email from us. In the meantime, prepare your best questions for Tom on lesser-known Salt modules, or on medieval trebuchets.
Salty Bird working groups – The SaltStack engineering team recently created several virtual “birds of a feather” working groups for SaltStack customers and community members to network and share knowledge. These groups focus on various SaltStack topics and technologies such as cloud management, network automation and Salt Formula, with more to be announced. These “Salty Bird” working groups will have time, space and assigned subject matter experts to help facilitate meetings while at SaltConf17.
SaltStack awards – Winners of the 1st Annual SaltStack 2017 Customer and Contributor Awards will be announced at SaltConf17, but we need help finding the best of the best. We are looking for SaltStack customers and Salt contributors who are innovators and pioneers. Please take a minute to nominate a candidate or two for the SaltStack 2017 Customer of the Year and the 2017 Salt Contributor of the Year. Nominations are due by Friday, October 6. Nominees don’t need to be present at SaltConf17 to win, but we will announce winners during the SaltConf17 keynote the morning of Thursday, Nov. 2. Winners will receive one complimentary seat in a SaltStack Admin I or II instructor-led training course.
Haunted house at SaltConf17 – We looked into rescheduling Halloween to avoid a conflict with the first day of SaltConf17 Pre-Conference Training, but it turns out the rest of the world is unreasonably committed to Oct. 31. We look forward to spending Halloween with folks attending SaltConf17 during Halloween and we are lucky to have one of the best haunted houses in the country just a few blocks away from the conference hotel. We will send SaltConf17 Halloween party invitations with more details to conference attendees soon.
AWS Cloud and NodeMCU for pre-conference training attendees – Amazon Web Services is the SaltConf17 Cloud sponsor and will be providing AWS instances for all of the hands-on elements of the SaltConf17 Pre-Conference Training courses, with one exception. All registered attendees of the pre-conference training course titled, “SaltStack for Network and Edge Device Management,” will receive a NodeMCU-based IOT hardware platform for the hands-on lab work. Pretty cool, eh? All of the pre-conference training courses have limited seating and we expect many to reach capacity, so register soon and reserve your spot in class.
